TORONTO – June 7, 2010 – Iristel Inc., a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) operator licensed by the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), today announced that its Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking service is compliant with key Internet Protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya, a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.

Iristel’s SIP Trunking service enables customers – including small to midsize businesses (SMBs) – to converge local, long distance and private voice traffic on a single IP backbone to reduce network costs and maximize returns on their IP investments. The service is now compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya IP Office.

“As we gain momentum by ensuring our sophisticated VoIP network and services are compliant with systems offered by industry leaders like Avaya, Iristel continues to provide SMBs with a broad selection of high quality communications solutions previously enjoyed only by large enterprises,” says Samer Bishay, President and CEO, Iristel Inc. “Innovations based on open, standards-based platforms offer customers new options and opportunities to easily incorporate new technology and uncover new possibilities to get more out of their communications infrastructure.”

As a Gold member of the program, Iristel is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab. There, a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure – speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“By improving product integration with industry-leading, development partners like Iristel, Avaya can offer more innovative, integrated solutions to customers around the world,” says Eric Rossman, vice president, Developer Relations, Avaya. “With this compliance testing, SMBs can be assured Iristel’s high-quality network and services, coupled with Avaya IP Office, can deliver the key communications capabilities they need to succeed.”

Offering combines VoIP over Wi-Fi/GSM, Single Number Reach and Fixed Mobile Convergence

TORONTO – June 24, 2008 – Iristel Inc., Canada’s leading provider of wireless IP services, today announced the launch of Iristel IP Mobility, a new VoIP offering that gives users a single point of contact where they can be reached by unifying fixed lines (e.g. office and home) with their cellular service. Using Iristel IP Mobility, calls can be made and received from any location around the world on a dual mode WiFi-enabled (wireless fidelity) GSM (Global System for Mobile) mobile phone, without additional airtime, roaming fees or long distance charges.

Iristel IP Mobility is a subscriber-based service that also features Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) technology, enabling users to seamlessly switch between their mobile carrier’s network and fixed lines when moving from one location to another (e.g. car to office). All Iristel IP Mobility users, regardless of their cellular service provider, can benefit from the cost-cutting benefits of FMC technology.

“Iristel IP Mobility builds on our extensive expertise in the wireless IP market,” says Samer Bishay, President and CEO, Iristel Inc. “We are essentially unbundling mobility from traditional voice services offered by cellular carriers and offering a high-quality, low-cost way to maximize the use of mobile devices while cutting long distance and roaming fees.”

Consumer Sentiment Highlighted in Harris/Decima Poll
A recent nationwide Harris/Decima omnibus survey commissioned by Iristel found that 68% of Canadians surveyed have a cell phone or other mobile device and 72% of these individuals are interested in cutting their roaming and long distance fees.

The survey also found 44% of cell phone owners show interest in one number (single number reach) for all their phones, while almost half (48%) are interested in being able to transfer a call from their home phone to their cell phone with no call interruption. In addition, almost a third (30%) of survey respondents indicated that they sometimes interrupt or cut calls short because they have to switch phones or devices.

More than “Single Number Reach”
Iristel IP Mobility enables subscribers to “hop” active calls between mobile phones and fixed lines with no call interruption. With its unified features, Iristel IP Mobility offers personal services – including one voicemail box – that can be easily managed across all of the subscriber’s phone lines from a single device.

Iristel IP Mobility’s universal features enable business users to remain productive and active in conference and group calls when out of the office by providing access to all the same telephone features users would have from their desk. It also provides VoIP roaming, enabling subscribers to access fixed line services when away from home or office through wireless VoIP.

“When I’m on the road, Iristel IP Mobility keeps me connected to my business, family and friends without having to think about additional airtime, roaming fees or long distance charges,” adds Michael Hyatt, CEO and Co-founder of BlueCat Networks. “Basic single number reach and find-me-follow-me services can’t compare to the cost savings and flexibility Iristel IP Mobility offers. Plus, predictable pricing means I don’t have any more surprises at the end of the month.”

Control How and When You Can Be Reached
Further, 47% of survey respondents (51% among those who are self-employed) indicated they are interested in preventing calls from coming through to their cellular device at certain times. The survey also found 59% receive calls at inappropriate or inconvenient times and/or locations.

With Iristel IP Mobility, subscribers no longer have to contend with unwanted calls as they control how and when they can be reached by setting personal “reach-ability” rules. Calls can also be identified as business or personal.

How it Works
Setting up Iristel IP Mobility is an easy and hassle-free process for any subscriber. One phone number is provided to the subscriber with dual ringing of all fixed and mobile phones to that one number. Iristel IP Mobility offers subscribers the option to choose which phone they want to receive calls on. In addition, subscribers can seamlessly transfer calls from one phone to another or access universal features with the push of a button. If a subscriber does not want to be reached, Iristel IP Mobility is easily deactivated.

Pricing and Availability
Iristel IP Mobility service plans start at Cdn$12.00 per month with a one-time set-up fee. The new wireless service is available to cellular subscribers in Iristel’s coverage areas across Canada, including cities in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.

About Iristel Inc.
Established in 1999, Iristel is Canada’s leading provider of wireless IP services. The company offers Canada’s broadest portfolio of IP services, including hosted IP PBX, virtual faxing, virtual roaming, and global IP trunking products and services. In December 2007, Iristel announced it was offering hybrid phones to Canadian customers. In 2000, Iristel received its operator license in Canada and today the company has over 20 points of presence (POPs) around the globe. More information about Iristel can be found at: http://www.iristel.ca.

About the Survey
The survey was conducted by Harris/Decima from May 29-June 1, 2008, through Harris/Decima’s weekly teleVox, the company’s national omnibus survey. A total of 686 Canadian cell phone/mobile device owners were surveyed. With a sample of this size, the results are considered accurate to within ± 3.7 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

- New VoIP Service Provides Virtual Algerian Phone Numbers to Iristel Subscribers Worldwide -

Algeria Telecom, Algeria’s leading provider of telecommunications services, and Iristel Inc., a leading global provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, today announced an exclusive alliance to offer Algeria Connect, a new VoIP service that provides virtual Algerian phone numbers to Iristel subscribers worldwide. With Algeria Connect, phone calls from Algeria can be made to subscribers regardless of where they are located in the world, using an Algerian phone number and at the cost of a national call(charges vary depending on each carrier).

As part of this exclusive agreement, Algeria Telecom and Iristel will jointly offer Inbound Direct Inward Dialling (DID) services to subscribers around the world who want an Algerian number for their existing phone line. All calls coming through an Algeria Telecom DID switch are routed to Iristel’s gateway that is Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM)-interconnected with the Algeria Telecom switch. Iristel’s gateway then routes calls to the Iristel switch, which then routes calls to Iristel subscribers.

“Algeria Telecom is committed to providing our subscribers with high-quality, low-cost solutions, enabling them to stay connected with family and friends on a global basis,” says Dr. Moussa Benhamadi, CEO of Algeria Telecom. “The Iristel Inbound DID solution effectively closes the gap between the PSTN (public switch telephone network) and VoIP networks to maintain the quality digital signal our customers have come to expect from Algeria Telecom, while allowing a limitless amount of concurrent incoming calls and lowering our monthly costs.”

“We are excited about our new alliance with Algeria Telecom and the possibilities it offers Iristel subscribers and partners around the world,” says Dr. Akram Benalia, President of Iristel Algeria. “This partnership allows Iristel and Algeria Telecom to provide customers with VoIP solutions in compliance with the highest IP telecommunications industry quality standards combined with an international level of customer service.”

Samer Bishay, President and CEO of Iristel, adds, “With today’s announcement, Iristel is reinforcing its role as the ‘Operator’s Operator’ by providing enhanced services, functionality and infrastructure to a world leading organization like Algeria Telecom.”

Iristel’s Inbound DID service is designed for calling card companies, VoIP carriers, inbound call centres, competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and virtual carriers requiring a local presence in multiple locations around the world. The service is designed for consumers, carriers and businesses that need to originate high-quality local calls from various international locations, in a cost-effective manner.

TORONTO – Iristel Inc., a leading global provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, today announced that it has been selected by MTS Allstream to assist in converting portions of its Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) voice traffic to Internet Protocol (IP)-based traffic for cost-effective routing through the MTS Allstream IP network. With Iristel’s Virtual Signalling solution, MTS Allstream can now convert its IP traffic locally and eliminate the expense of backhauling certain portions of its traffic to the United States.

Iristel’s fully managed and integrated Virtual Signalling solution carries SS7 TDM traffic for Canadian Incumbent (ILEC) and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) without having to backhaul capacity across the border. The Iristel solution saves carriers costly signalling and media platform charges while maintaining the integrity of all voice media streams and logic.

“Our goal at MTS Allstream is to serve our customers by moving data over our advanced network effectively and efficiently. Streamlining the cost of backhauling our traffic will help us achieve this goal,” says Dave Ballantine, Senior Vice President, Global Carrier Solutions at MTS Allstream. “By working with an experienced Canadian carrier such as Iristel, we can cut our traffic backhauling expenses while providing our customers with the high quality of service they have come to expect from our IP network.”

Iristel’s unique Virtual Signalling solution offers a fully redundant VoIP network conversion service that looks and feels like it is part of the carrier’s homogenous network and never leaves the local exchange carrier cloud.

“We are honoured that a well respected and trusted carrier such as MTS Allstream has chosen our IP conversion services for transporting international traffic,” says Samer Bishay, President and CEO of Iristel. “We anticipate that we will be converting voice traffic that equates to more than a billion minutes per year.”
