Regular setup includes a Mediatrix 2102 which connects up to two analog phones and/or faxes, as well as a PC or a home router to a broadband modem and can be rented for $4/month.

Can I give up my normal phone line if I sign up for VoIP?

As a primary service provider, Iristel enables a smooth transition process for its subscribers. To that end, customers can transfer their existing phone number to the Iristel network. By connecting Iristel’s Broadfone Gateway to the nearest telephone jack subscribers are not changing anything in the way that they are accustomed to communicating. They can:

• Continue to use all of the phones around the home
• Use a free telephone jack for fax transmissions
• Include their number with the standard directory listings
• Access 911 service
