General Description

Simply put, a SIP Trunk is primarily a concurrent call that is routed over Iristel’s IP backbone using VoIP technology. SIP Trunks are used in conjunction with an IP-PBX and are thought of as replacements for traditional PRI’s or analog circuits. Depending on your needs, you can choose between the Inbound Only SIP Trunks, or 2-way SIP Trunks (inbound and outbound).

Iristel’s IP Trunking solution will connect a Gateway to your PBX. This gateway will serve as the Iristel demarcation point and will leverage your data connection to simultaneously serve both your data and voice needs. Dial tone to your PBX will now be coming from the Iristel network via Iristel’s Gateway that is connected to the patch panel of your PBX. Businesses that already have IP PBXs will not require the Gateway as these PBXs will already be able to accept Iristel’s SIP Trunks.

If you are running a business, particularly a small or medium-sized business (SMB), you are probably weighing the options of how you can economically and efficiently migrate to the benefits of a VoIP solution while not immediately abandoning the investment you have made in your existing PBX/Key system and handsets. Iristel’s IP Trunking solution will enable you to make that move efficiently and cost effectively.

Many enterprises today have branch offices and a large base of installed PBX equipment. While these enterprises are under constant pressure to cut their communications costs by implementing a VoIP solution, they also have a desire to leverage their existing communications infrastructure investment.

In order to bridge the gap between PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and IP, there is a growing demand for bringing IP system functionality to traditional PSTN connectivity without the risk and costs associated with a wholesale replacement.

Iristel’s strength is in integrating the IP world with the PSTN. We have developed a VoIP migration strategy designed to help enterprises leverage their existing base of PBX equipment while taking immediate advantage of VoIP benefits.

Seamless Transition

We offer a number of add-on equipment options that work in conjunction with existing hardware investments. These hardware options are transparent to the company’s existing network and eliminate the need to install separate IP terminals on a “per person” basis.

The solution includes all the IP telephony elements that are needed to connect the PBX, faxes and systems to the network, simplifying ordering and installation requirements.

Confidence in this technology and flexibility are paramount to its success. That is why Iristel recommends a slow “test-based” implementation system, which can be done at no risk to the company.

Interoperability is assured since the solution uses compatible VoIP equipment, and besides that it offers a low-price entry point for VoIP migration this way a company can slowly test and expand as they evolve.

The Iristel Converged Enterprise Telephony solution allows users on PBX and Key Systems to retain their existing digital or analog phones, as well as the features enabled, and remain connected to the PSTN. This enables organizations to realize the benefits of VoIP without having to change user habits.

Improved Price Performance

VoIP equipment from Iristel will enable a company’s PBX system to communicate transparently via an IP network rather than the PSTN. Since the PBX controls the internal distribution of inbound/outbound calls, the handling of internal routing of calls will remain the same. However, calls coming in and leaving the PBX will use VoIP technology versus less flexible and more expensive PSTN technology.

By way of example, a company accustomed to having calls ringing at the reception prior to the receptionist transferring the call to the appropriate work station will continue to follow the same procedures. However, the call will come in via the Iristel gateway, which will hand the call over to the PBX.

These solutions help to reduce PSTN, and long distance costs, because the Branch offices can also connect their PBX to the same network, by using the same method; the inter-office communications will be at no cost, and the long-distance expenditures will decrease significantly.

Scalability

The Iristel Converged Enterprise Telephony solution is suitable for any enterprise with a PBX or fax, regardless of the size of the operation. Whether addressing the needs of hundreds or a handful of sites, all enterprise PBX and Key Systems can be converged onto one single IP telephony network.
