Algerian DID – F.A.Q.

1. How does it work?

The Algerian DID will be forwarded to a regular landline or even to your mobile phone number. If you are an existing customer the DID will reside on the Iristel Voip line. For example let’s say you will be assigned a Toronto number from Iristel, the Algerian DID will be an alternate number to the Toronto one. The caller will dial 2139832xxxxx but it will ring on your 416 number.

2. How much do the Algerian DIDs cost?

Iristel provides the numbers at a fixed monthly charge with no per-minute charge. The cost is $6/month for Iristel subscribers and $10/month for non-Iristel subscribers, with a onetime set up fee of $10. In addition long distance fees may apply if you choose to forward the calls to a non-Canadian number.

3. Are the numbers reachable from all the operators in Algeria?

The DID’s are reachable from the Algeria Telecom network, Mobilis postpay (prepay is not working but Mobilis is working to have this available as well) and Orascom. Wataniya is not routing the calls yet but we are working to solve this.

4. Can I make outgoing calls from my Algerian number?

No, you cannot place outbound calls from the Algerian DID. However you can become an Iristel subscriber and place calls from the Canadian telephone line. Calling rates towards Algeria will be 0.065 CAD/min for Fixed Line and 0.228 CAD/min for Mobile

5. How much the callers will be charged to call my Algerian DID?

The callers will only pay the cost of a national call, charges vary depending on the carrier and subscription used by the caller with their service provider.

6. Can I use the Algerian DID for receiving faxes?

Yes, the numbers support fax usage.

7. Would I see the caller ID?

Yes, if the Caller ID is provided to us from the calling service provider, we forward it to your Agerian DID unchanged.

8. How does the caller dial the number from Algeria?

The Algerian caller will dial this number in the same manner as they would when dialling any other local or national number in Algeria. 213 country prefix would be removed and 0 will be added in front – 09832xxxxx.
