With Iristel VoIP plans you are able to call 911 services wherever you are registered.
911 crews are able to react based on your “on file address” in case you cannot indicate verbally your location.
Because you are able to move your phones from one location to another it is important that you keep your address updated in case you need to call 911 and you are unable to provide your location verbally.
It is crucial that you update your 911 emergency address information so that it is as current as possible.
In case your billing address changes, please login to your account using this link and update your address. By default the billing address is used as your “on file 911 address”.
Enhanced 911 service is a North American telecommunications-based system that automatically associates a physical address with the calling party’s telephone number, and routes the call to the most appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for that address.
The caller’s address and information are displayed to the PSAP calltaker immediately upon the site’s receipt of the call. This provides emergency responders with the location of the emergency without the person calling for help having to provide it. This is often useful in cases of fires, break-ins, kidnapping, and other events where communicating one’s location is difficult or impossible.
In North America, the system works only if the emergency telephone number 911 is called. Calls made to other telephone numbers, even though they may be listed as an emergency telephone number, may not permit this feature to function correctly.
